At the end of the day, Vietnam is still a communist country. The government can take away your possessions and your rights as they please. Just like they did to my parents in the 70s.

Great ways to open up and introduce VN to the world and especially Viet people who born Oversea get to know VN better if they no longer have any connections back to VN. Thank you for doing this. How is VN similar to SEA/East Asia and different from it?

18:00 Yes! The fatigue from being in a very foreign environment is such a real experience. The upside is you sleep really well at night from being so mentally tired. I wonder if it would be less exhausting if I exercised vigorously everyday and ate more eggs and fish for the brain.

It isn't Ho Chi Minh City, it was robbed by The Viet Cong bac Ki invaded in 1975 led to millions of Vietnamese dying in the sea or by Thailand pirates! Don't forget Viet Cong is the most brutal regime on the planet Earth! Ask the Vietnamese abroad why they fled in 1975.

Vietnam could be more enjoyable if the people didn’t throw garbage everywhere and the food vendors practiced safety and hygiene. As a Vietnamese, it’s a shame to admit that this slum and corrupt culture continues to pass down from one generation to the next. Sad.

Great video 👍3:27 I sat at the Cafe at 26 Lý Tự Trọng, a floor below yours some seven years ago! What I didn't realise at the time is that the building next to it, actually no 22, is rather (in?-) famous. It used to be a CIA building and is the one where you see people climbing a ladder in an attempt to board the last helicopter leaving Saigon whilst the helicopter is balancing on the structure on top of the building. There is no access, but you can see it from the stairwell. There was a cafe there for a short while, but it disappeared towards the end of Covid. Check this video from Rusty Compass 'Saigon's historic rooftop - following the famous photo of the fall of Saigon with Larry Berman'. Mark Bowyer has 30+ years experience in Vietnam and also runs the Old Compass Cafe of Pasteur Street.
